Infinity's Music

A poem dedicated to my dear friend Arati, for her birthday on 8th Jan 2021. 

The number 8 represents standing infinity and the lines below are symbolic of her resilience as a person and her unconditional love for music.. 🎵


🎼 Infinity's Music 🎼


She had given up, lying down, with sadness abound,

In sight, there wasn't a person, not even a sound,

The first month of the year brought music along,

She found a nest in her heart, that of a heartfelt song,

Infinity stood up to embrace it and lo behold, she found,

There was boundless hope, love and brightness all around..

She felt like she was born again, as now joy was all she could see,

Caged by her thoughts for long, and music had finally set her free..

The music within her, had finally set her free.. 😇

A guitar, a stage and a dream come true...

September 28th 2008 - A memorable day of my life Yesterday was a dream come true. It was my first performance on stage with the guitar, in front of an audience of around 300 people. Flashback to a day, which I vaguely remember. It was in Army School, Delhi. I was in my 5th standard and it was my music class, that afternoon. The teacher taught us "Jingle Bells" and everyone present in the class was supposed to come forward and sing it. I saw my fellow classmates trying their best to stimulate their vocal chords, and the audience having a real good time ridiculing every effort which the singer made. I too was enjoying the laugh, until that eventful moment, when I was chosen as the next guy to be slaughtered in the class. Till that day, I had never ever attempted to hum, let alone sing. As I stood in front, I froze. Being the center of attraction of around 35 pairs of eyes, each waiting to pounce upon a single mistake, sent a chill down my spine. Nevertheless, I gave it a shot

A plate full of paani-puri and kindness..

Yesterday, after office, I took my wife and daughter out to a small Paani puri stall near my house. My daughter enjoys having dry puris. So when I requested the guy, he gave her two. While paying I gave him Rs 5 extra, which he refused to accept. He said "Sir, hum dono ek age ke hain. Aaj main aapke bacche ko de raha hun, kal koi mere bacche ko dega. (Sir, we are of the same age. Today, I am giving these to your kid, and someday, someone else will do the same for my kid)". And saying this, he gave two more to my daughter, who was delighted beyond words.. :) He told me that he works till 10:30 in the night at this stall, having dinner at 11:30 before working at a call center all night long, to earn more money for his family. He sleeps for just 3 hours every day. But the zeal and sparkle that this guy had in his eyes, with all this hard work and life style was just remarkable.
